Forget About Me I Love You!

If you ever broke down Family in acronyms, it means forget about me I love you. Family is the far most important people you have in your life, well at least I can say for myself. Even if you don’t have the best relationship with one of your family members, there is always someone there for you. I love my family and they come first than anything.  My little family at home, consist of my mom, dad, older sister, and two older brothers. I know that we all love each other because we look out for each other. Having two older brothers may kill the fun sometimes. I remember the first time my brother found out I had a boyfriend; hell broke lose I thought he was going to kill him.  In addition I’m thankful for having a sister, because there’s times when you need to have girl talk. I tell my sister everything because I know that I can trust her. In the past years, I realized as young as I am, he will never accept me having a boyfriend. Sometimes I don’t show them the time and day, because I’m too caught up in my own life. I come from a big family, and I enjoy spending all the holidays and special events with them. My family is big, and sometimes I don’t even know who they are.

If I didn’t have family, I wouldn’t have that backbone. They may agree and disagree to the decisions you make but they will always support you in a way. It’s amazing; I’m close to all my siblings. We may bicker and fight at times, but by the next day were back to normal. When I went to Europe, I realized that I missed my family so much that I just wanted to go back home. Family doesn’t necessarily have to be by blood, to me it means if someone who loves you and you love them back. It doesn’t have to be mom or dad, but people who care for you. Children, such as orphans, that don’t get brought up with parents find family.  It could be the people that work at the orphanage. It’s sad when you hear on the news, that parents abandon their children. This is what makes me so thankful that I will always have a family no matter what and they will always be there for me.

My interview with Jessica Garcia

The person that I interviewed was Jessica Garcia. She was born in Santa Barbara, California. At the age of nine, she had moved to Fresno with her parents.  A couple years later her parents had divorced when she was 14. She decided to move back with her father. When she had turned 16, she was living on her own and dropped school as well. Jessica's motivation to attend college is to study to become a dental hygienist and to support her son. She goes to school Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, she spends her time doing homework, and on the weekends she spends her time with her son. She balances all three family, work, and school. Her mother helps her out watching her son. When Jessica goes to school, her son also goes to school at the child development at Oxnard College for convenience. Jessica described herself as hard, closed off, and bitter. In about five years, she sees herself working full time as a dental hygientist and paying off her bills. Her motto for succeeding school is"nothing worth having ever comes easy." A couple things that she likes about Oxnard College is their programs, such as EOPS, CAL, and being able to talk to the counselors. She believes that the college could improve is with the financial aid office and the student business center. Throughout her college experience, the biggest surprise that has come her way was how smart she really can be.

Text Your Life Away

This generation, texting is the new form of communication with friends, colleagues, parents, and significant others. I’m amazed at the age group that text, its from little kids in grade school to grandparents. You don’t catch many people talking on the phone now days, it’s more like texting. Some people are addicted to texting. Every time they hear that ring or buzz go off, they check it immediately. From sending a text or receiving a text, it’s a big distraction with school. Many students don’t even pay attention in class because they’re so glued to their phone. I have noticed that texting has a big effect on people’s social and communication skills. It happens all the time, people try having conversations with another and they completely ignore them because they’re so caught up with their phone. Texting has its own kind of language, such as abbreviations, smiley faces, and other symbols.  A big issue about texting is don’t text and drive. As you seen on the commercial, “ No text is worth dying over”. There have been many accidents involved with people texting while driving. I will admit I am guilty of texting and driving, but its addiction that I have with my phone. I personally love to text because you have more privacy and it’s easier.

Reality Show

Reality TV seems to be the popular TV shows to watch. Many of these reality stars are being famous for being on a dating show, or their life in Hollywood. When you think of reality you think its real, but 95% of these shows are made up drama. If you go behind the scenes of some of these shows you’ll understand that they’re all made up and fake. Every reality show has some drama in it just to catch your attention.
When I do have the time to watch TV; I watch mostly reality shows. I’m not going to lie, that’s all I watch on TV. One of my favorite shows right now is Keeping up with the Kardashians, The T.O. show and Chad Ocho Cinco. My dad asks me all the time “why do I watch these shows?” I don’t really have a good answer to it, but I enjoy watching famous peoples lives. The eye catching of these shows is all the drama. Who doesn’t love drama? It also catches a lot of people’s attention with the latest gossip on celebrities. I personally enjoy watching what these people are up to, the things they do, their lifestyle, and the way they act. I do get addicted to watching these reality shows because it always ends on suspense. The producers are very smart because they show a preview of the next episode and makes you want to watch the next week.

I began watching reality shows since high school. I would love to watch Laguna Beach and the Hills. I thought it was the coolest reality shows ever just because these people that were in it were the same age and had the same high school drama as my friends and me. With an exception they were on TV for it. I always made sure I stopped doing whatever I was doing just so I can catch the episode. My eyes were pretty much glued to the TV. Reality shows are very famous now, because a lot of young teens and adults are interested in watching. They come out with a new reality show every month because it’s making them money.

Reality shows do have an effect on me, because I start to become very materialistic when I watch a celebrities lifestyle. I start to become less appreciative and want all the things they have. Most importantly I want to live the same lifestyle their living in.  It does have an effect on society because most of it is not real. People are so wrapped up into these shows just to watch about other people’s lives. We should be entertained by our own lives. We shouldn’t take the time out of the day to watch someone’s lives, but were caught up in it. The media is a bad influence on drugs, sex, and alcohol. A lot more kids these days watch these reality shows, but it’s our decisions on what we do. I don’t entirely blame the media, because it’s our parenting and decisions on what we watch,

Fast Food Nation

My experience with fast food was quiet interesting. When I was younger, I didn’t eat the healthiest, but I mean what young kid likes healthy food. They all want junk food.  It was a part of my childhood because my grandfather would always spoil me. Every day on the way to school, he would stop at McDonalds or Taco Bell to buy my brother breakfast and me. Sometimes if we were early enough, we would stop at Burger King. I would always get breakfast burritos or sausage egg mcmuffins. I used to love it at the time just cause it tasted so good. I can say I did depend on it because very time I was hungry that’s what I would eat. My parents would always be busy working so my mom didn’t cook as much.  As I was in my teenage years I would eat fast food at least once a day. I would always get a hamburger meal with French fries and a drink. At McDonalds I would always get the chicken nugget meal. I realized I ate all this fast food because I was too lazy to make something at home or just cause I loved the taste of it. I ate a lot of fast food, people would always give me crap about eating it, but I never really cared. I never gained weight from eating bad, but I know my arteries aren’t the greatest.
In the past year, I stopped eating fast food because I was more aware about how many calories and carbohydrates were in these meals. The movie supersize me documentary had made me completely stopped eating McDonalds. I never realized how bad it was for you until I saw how many preservatives and fats were in just a small cheeseburger. I was around a healthy environment a lot so that did have an effect on me. I still eat fast food once in a while but only if I have to. I do get grossed out when I just even think about McDonalds just because it’s the unhealthiest place. My best friend is a health freak that had inspired me to eat healthy and stop eating junk food.  I look back and I see how horrible I ate, but now I have improved. I eat mostly chicken and rice. I also drink a lot more water than before. I have more energy, and I feel better about my appearance. Fast food has a big impact on your physical appearance. Gaining weight was not a problem for me, but the greasiness of the food made me breakout on my face. I eat fast food now, maybe once every two weeks. Now I like to eat a lot of vegetables and fruit.  I can eat fruit all day; I love it so much. I know now that my body is in way better shape than it was, I can also feel it I have more energy, stronger. I do regret eating unhealthy when I was younger, but I also learned from it. Now fast food taste gross to me, I rather eat at home.

past, present, future

My name is Aja Tamai. I was born on October 22,1990 raised in Oxnard, Ca. My ethnic background is Japanese, Colombian, and Native American. I have one sister and two brothers; I'm the youngest out of all them. I loved playing sports since I was little, probably because everyone in my family is a sports fanatic. I started playing basketball for a team when I was in second grade until now. I used to play soccer, I loved that sport, but it had conflicted with basketball, which I happened to like more I went to Santa Clara High School; I played basketball and volleyball all four years that I was there. My freshman year, I was given the opportunity to be an extra in a movie with Orlando Bloom. It was such a cool experience; I was able to have an actual conversation with him and got paid for not doing much. I graduated high school in 2008; I got accepted to San Francisco State University. I turned that down and stayed in Oxnard to go to Ventura College and Oxnard College to play basketball.
Currently I'm on my last year here at Oxnard College. I have 14 units; I’m taking Speech, English, Statistics, and Basketball class I'm applying to 10 different universities. I work with our family business, which is marketing and sales. I deliver fresh produce to bunch of different restaurants in LA, Santa Monica, and Irvine. I Love my job its out doors. I do have a boyfriend that I have been with for about 2 and half years. I might be playing basketball this year for Oxnard College; I’m undecided about it. I have been practicing everyday. On my free time now, I enjoy going out to LA with my friends for the nightlife or just being at home having a good time.
Once I graduate Oxnard College and get my AA next semester, I plan on going to San Diego State for school to major in kinesiology and minor in business. I can’t wait to move to San Diego because that’s one place where I always wanted to live. I want to work with sports medicines, physical therapy, or even athletic training. I want to major in business also because in case the medical field doesn’t work out for me, I will always have business to fall back on. My number one prioritie is to become a physical therapist and hopefully go back to school to get my masters.  Hopefully by that time marriage will be in the back of my mind. I want to have at least 2 children and set a great example for them. Once I’m order I hope I have a well paying job so that I’m wealthy. I plan to spend the rest of my life traveling around the world and have the best memorable moments that I will never forget. I hope I grow old and have a great life.
